Entry for the *AvalonCommunity contest "Celtic Myths and Legends".

This is my first full digital painting using only PSCS3. I used the EyeCandy and Xenofex plugins to make the castle wall and stained glass window background.

The only element I used in this piece that I didn't create was the tiara, the brush I used can be found here: [link] by ~Falln-Brushes. (Those are my handpainted lil gems on it tho lol)

I wanted to present Morgan in a way that reflects how I think she would have wanted her portrait painted. Sort of how I believe she saw herself.

aww, thanks! I decided to leave it alone... I figure that the imperfections suit her character. :)

Thanks for looking!

I know you spent a lot of time on her..
she's lovely .. her eyes are a bit close together to me, but .. I'm thinking that that's the effect you were possibly after ...
the background, and colours chosen are supurb (heh, I'm a sucker for greens and blues anyways though lol)
nicely done .. and I like what you did with the wild hair, it doesn't look so wild in this verion hehe, but still nice, and love the crown :D

I couldn't put my finger on it... but now that you mention it, the eyes are a little too close together lol. When I changed the perspective of her face from 3/4 view to full front I guess I never compensated for that... oops. Fixing that would mean adjusting her mouth too... hmm... Even when I was younger, in art school, I always spent the majority of my time on eyes... you'd think I'd have them pretty much down by now lol.

Thanks for the comments, sometimes it takes another perspective to help with things like this.

you're very welcome
I'm glad I was able to help ... the mouth could be ok, her lips are really full compaired to the image you used to go by but that's ok.. full lips look fine on her.. it's just her eyes looked off to me ... and don't feel bad , you're not the only one that spent a lot of time in art class messing about with eyes >.<
I was so horrible at drawing faces .. and to use a reference made it even worse.. but I got better ...
I'm waiting on my graphics tablet to arrive, should be in today... wonder if I can still muck up a face? :lmao:
actually.. lastnight, and finished it this morn ... I used that tutorial on planets .. and :omfg:!!! I created a 3d planet in cs3 .. though, he totally lost me in the shadow bit, but I guess that's because I didn't name layers properly (don't like to name them see..) .. anyway, the shadow was in wrong spot.. and I found it easier to just use a really big fuzzy paintbrush, with the circular marquee tool selected over the planet ... and just fill in the edge of the planet.. that also cuts the gaussen blur out ... possibly a useful tip?
anyway, I'm proud of my puney little planet... even if it did take me over an hour just for it.. :lmao: I should post it as "Teaser"
